For those who follow me on Instagram, you may have noticed that September fruits inspire me a lot : cakes, crumbles and pies are now an everyday activity at home 😉 . We have to admit that, among plums, nectarines, pears, apples, very sweet figs and hazelnuts, we have a great choice!
Here is a simple and very energetic recipe : the fig & hazelnut cake. After the ‘Energy Balls’ recipe by Vanessa, here is another full of energy dessert for a great Autumn snacking. For little ones… and grown-ups 😉

Preparation time : 10 minutes
Cooking time: 50 minutes at 170 ° C
Ingredients:
- 150 g whole hazelnuts or powder
- 6 purple figs
- 50 g of wheat flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 125 g brown sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 100 g butter, melted
Preheat the oven to 170 ° C.
Mix thanks to a food processor the whole hazelnuts to reduce them to powder. Then mix them with the flour and baking powder.
In another bowl, break the eggs and beat them with the sugar. When the mixture is foamy, gradually stir in the flour mixture + hazelnuts.
Meanwhile, melt the butter, then add it to the mixture. Stir until the mixture is smooth. Pour the dough into a cake tin.
Wash and cut the figs into quarters. Flour them lightly and dig them slightly into the cake.
Bake the cake about 50 minutes at 170 ° C. Let it cool and then turn it out onto a rack.
Delicious warm or cold for the gouter, with some yogurt … or a some mascarpone cheese for the gourmands!
