While time is about ‘flexing in the city’, using urban equipment (such as walls, bars, stairs,…) here is some exercise to practice when you’re watching your kids at the park… because parklife is not very exciting, isn’t it? Every family member can do the following exercices :  Equipment : any multi-activities structure  If you don’t have all the elements mentionned below, prefer the option ‘without equipment’ at the bottom of each exercise. Practise at least for 20 minutes. Be careful : you can do the exercises…

Family feel good movies

Family feel good movies: photo from It’s a Wonderful Life, by Franck Capra. On Sunday afternoon, and above all during Winter, we love organising a family home cinema session. We give up all our everyday rules and eat whatever we want (sweets and popcorn  above all). During these ‘free style’ sessions, it’s important to choose a film that the whole family will enjoy, not too childish, nor teenage, …nor adult (of course!). This is our own selection of family movies we particularly enjoy at home…

How to relax  our children in this complicated period for all the family. If psychologists remind to us the importance of dialogue , they also explain that to reassure children and  have their attention come us , they need to be quiet . Many of us have noticed an unusual excited behavior on our kids, at home and at school. To help them to cool down, a lots of applications are very interesting , especially as of today Petit Bambou…

Paris under our thumb

Paris à nos pieds. During Fall holidays, we’ve found a great kids activity at home, both calm and playful. The Eiffel Tower by La Plume de Louise mixes colouring and construction. The poetic drawings are also a good way to remember Parisian main monuments. It’s very easy to assemble : no glue, no scissors… Even the younger ones can help!   You can find the cardboard Eiffel Tower on La Plume de Louise‘s website. Format 1 meter, Exists also in other formats…

Making an herbarium

Making an herbarium. During our summer holidays in the French countryside, the kids and I decided to start an herbarium to keep memories from our long walks and places we went to. After collecting fresh herbs (verbena, mint, rosemary, thyme, basil), flowers (hydrangea, roses, jasmine) and leaves (magnolia, prunus), we made them dry out under a pile of books for seven days. Then we stuck them in a notebook and wrote the name, the date and the place of collection….

Our favourite summer workbooks

cahiers d'été, Sweet Cabane

This is a selection of French workbooks for kids. I’ve selected them according to the age of the kids. Unfortunately, I think they’re mainly French ones. Of course,  it will be translated in English. *** For older ones Petit cahier de géographie : jouez à réviser vos classiques! Collection…

Happy bubbles

Réussir ses bulles de savon, Sweet Cabane

Happy bubbles. This is a very important topic during spring and summer times : how to refill your  bubble tube which is just empty in a few minutes? Thanks to my son’s newspaper, Le Petit Quotidien, I’ve tested a very good recipe which permits to make beautiful and resistent soap bubbles in a few minutes : 20 cl tap water 5 cl de washing-up liquid (much better than shampoo or shower gel) 1 teaspoon caster sugar 1 teaspoon baking powder A…

Crazy Carnival

Mardi gras - Sweet Cabane

Crazy Carnival. Next Tuesday, it ail be what, in France, we call ‘Mardi-Gras’, a big Carnival, mainly for children but also for adults. On this special day,  kids dress up and parade through the  streets : super hero, princess, Little Mermaid, and so on. When I was a little girl, it was my favorite day because I really loved dressing up (like a princess above all 😉 ). So you can imagine how much I’ve liked selecting some desguises here!…
