I propose you here an easy and delicious recipe with quinces, perfect for wintertime  … Such a comforting dessert!

Preparation time: 15 minutes / Cooking time: 30-35 minutes.

Ingredients (4 people):

  • 1kg quinces (2-3 quinces)
  • 50g unsalted butter
  • 50g caster sugar
  • One good knife

Quinces flesh is very firm, please get yourself a good knife.
Cut the quinces into quarters, peel and seed them.
Slice them thinly.
Heat the butter in a large pan, add the sugar and let caramelize a few minutes over medium heat. The butter must not sizzle.
Add the slices of quince and stir frequently for 5 minutes while they imbibe all the butter-sugar mixture.
Let the quinces caramelize over low heat for 20 minutes, turning occasionally. Then, turn on medium heat for 10 minutes to brown. Stir regularly so that all the pieces are also colored.

It’s ready!

This is a very comforting dessert, perfect in winter. Serve it warm :  or alone, or with cottage cheese, sour cream, vanilla ice cream … or even pancakes.
Quinces also go very well with roasted poultry, for those who love salty sweet associations (as I do).
