Easy meal #15 : shrimps donuts with lime and coriander

Last post before Christmas : a recipe, once again, because it’s just what we need during this festal period, isn’t it? A light and easy recipe, perfect for Christmas Eve…

  • Preparation time : 15 minutes
  • Marinade time : 2 hours
  • Frying time: 3 minutes

Ingredients (servings 5-6 )

  • 24 raw shrimps (I personally buy some Madagascar frozen shrimps at Picard’s)
  • 4 thin pastry sheets
  • 1 lime
  • 2 tablespoons soja sauce
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Black pepper
  • 500 ml frying oil


To make marinade. Peel the shrimps and cut their head. Put them in a big bowl with soja sauce, olive oil, coriander, pepper and half a lime juice. Store in the fridge for at least two hours.

To make doughnuts. Cut each pastry sheet in 5 cm strips (so 4 strips per sheet). Cut the two largest strips in two in order to obtain 6 strips per sheet. Fold each strip around a shrimp and fry it in a big pan full of very hot oil.  Turn then over after 90s. Total : let them fry for 3 minutes.

Then put the shrimps doughnuts in a plate with absorbent paper to remove excess oil.

I advise you to make the doughnuts a long time before serving and to reheat them 5 minutes in the oven at 180°C just before eating.

These doughnuts are delicious with a salad.
