Friday cake #34 : Brazilian cookies.

We ‘re still travelling this week while cooking! After the Spanish omelette in our Easy Meal section, let’s bake some Brazilian cookies! They’re gluten free, made with sweetened condensed milk and corn-starch. The recipe comes from a Brazilian friend of mine whose grandmother used to cook them.

You can share this ‘pastry moment’ with your kids, even the younger ones : these cookies are very funny to make, just like a playdough workshop!

They’re perfect for children’s snack or grown-ups’ tea or coffee time. Scrumptious! Since I’ve found this recipe, we keep making these cookies… Hope you’ll enjoy them too!

Preparation time : 5 minutes
Baking time : 8 minutes at 220 °C.

Ingredients : 

  • 400 g sweetened condensed milk
  • 400 g starch-flour
  • 150 g  butter at room temperature.

This recipe is one the the easiest I’ve ever known!

Preheat the oven at 220°C.

Mix all the ingrédients in a big bowl and knead the dough for 2-3 minutes. If your room temperature is rather warm, you can rest the dough in the fridge for at least 30 minutes.

Then make some small dough balls.

Crunch the top of the balls with a fork.

Finally, bake the cookies for 8 minutes in a hot oven. Let the cookies cool down outside the oven. You can stock them in a box  for around a week … if you haven’t eaten them before of course 😉 !
