Light but scrumptious Epiphany Cake

After long Christmas holidays, Sweet Cabane is going back to wish you a Happy New Year. That it brings you joy, laughter, love … and that it allows you to realize your dearest projects! I also hope that you will still be present here as it is a great pleasure for me  to share these moments with you.

This first post of the year is about a recipe of light Epiphany Cake not to end the good detox resolutions (for those who have) …

This one is an apple cake made from filo pastry. Easy and quick to make, it is very crispy and rich in fruits.

Preparation time: 15 minutes

Baking time: 15 minutes

Ingredients :

  • 8 sheets of filo pastry
  • 25 g butter
  • 4 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 4 apples
  • 1 egg yolk

Very simple. Start by peeling and cutting apples into pieces. Then cook them in a frying pan for a quarter of an hour with the sugar and butter diced.

Preheat the oven to 200 ° C. Spread 4 sheets of filo on a plate covered with parchment paper. When the apples are cooked, place them in the center of the dough to form a round (about 25 cm in diameter). Fold the edges of the filo pastry over the apples. Then cover the apples with four other filo sheets. Fold the corners under the cake so as to form a well round cake.

Then spread an egg yolk on top of the cake. Bake for 15 minutes at 200 ° C.
