Cooking with kids is always a great activity during holidays, whatever the season. Today’s recipe is very easy to make and children can play with textures : they stir, they knead, they paint… It entertains children from 3 to 12 years at least!
Your kids can eat these shortcakes just after they made them, with some cream (or yogurt) and good fruits : berries, figs, peaches, plums, … A delight!
Preparation time: 10 minutes
Cooking time: 20 minutes
- 210 g flour
- 1 pinch of salt
- 125 g butter at room temperature
- 80 ml heavy cream
- 1/2 beaten egg
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 10 g baking powder (1 full bag)
- For decoration: 25 g of butter and a few spoonfuls of sugar
Preheat oven to 180 ° C.
Mix flour, salt and baking powder.
Cut the butter into small pieces and add it to the flour mixture. Knead the dough with fingertips (no need that the butter is completely blended). Add half the egg and the cream. Knead again.
Put some parchment paper on the baking tray. Form small balls with the dough (equivalent to 2 tablespoons). Space them at least 2 centimeters one from the other.
Brush the biscuits with melted butter. Sprinkle then caster sugar on top.
Bake for 20 minutes, then made cakes cool on a rack.
Your children can enjoy them almost immediately for a snack, with fresh fruit, cream jam!
Have a lovely week and see you next Monday for a special post about preparing the Rentrée (back to school).
